Still moving North. Stopped at the Galgano camping, at a site where you had your own brick built shower and toilet. It was bigger than our tent, and we nearly put the air bed in it, but decided that was cheating.
Next stop was Acquavita Pecino in Marche, picked randomly (by lastminute.com) and it was the usual deserted hotel, just opened for the season and selling rooms off cheap. They're all a bit spookily reminiscent of “The Shining”.
Walked into the town and were stunned. Medieval ramparts, towers, views across to the snow covered peaks of the National Park, rolling countryside nearer, lush green with vines and fig trees and the intense perfume of Jasmine and Elderflower.
We were bowled over, and, according to our guide book, there are 10 more picturesque towns in the area.
Travelled up to the aptly named Camping Panorama next. Same rolling green countryside, blackbirds singing lustily in the hedges. We found or way down to a beach for a long swim. It was a bit shallow (due to the line of rocks put 15 meters off shore, as they seem to have done on and off all up the coast) but flat calm, and clear as a bell so you could watch the fish around you as you swam.
After struggling back up the hill we found another picturesque village with an even more picturesque bar.
