Fireworks etc

Had a great time on the 5th and 6th.  Went to a posh indian in Peckham, Peckham is half posh half skanky for those who's only experience of Peckham is through Del Boys eyes.  Carys had to organise it well in advance, very sought after.  Then had a pint in the posh pub near us, not our favourite, peanuts a quid and a half for a nicely presented bowl, but they do have Deuchers.

There's a really good running route from here, takes in a few of the local sights, once I get passed Lewisham Station.  It's up the hill to Blackheath.. into Greenwhich Park (in the way you come out of at the start of the London Marathon) passed the Royal Observatory with views of Canary Wharf and the Olympic site behind it, along the Thames path to Deptford with views of the city and the Shard going up, and back through Deptford "artists" quarter.  Not sure what these artists are into but the last time I went through there they were burning tyres.  Maybe it was a Tracey Emmin installation.

I'll take some proper pictures when I get chance, but in the meantime here are some dodgy pictures taken on my phone.

The way down to lewisham

Then up to Blackheath

Across Blackheath, with Canary Wharf behind

Into the Park

Passed the observatory

Then it got too dark

The Saturday we went to the fireworks at Blackheath .. massive.  Must've been 20 to 30,000 people there.  Best thing since the Magnesium factory burnt down.

PS Kodak had a factory to make the X Ray film cassettes (from magnesium plate), somewhere in the Mid West (US, not Cannock) and it burnt down.  Bet you could see it from the moon.
