Encore le Dordogne

We’ve looked a bit further afield now we’re in the second week, Villeneuve Sur Lot, Eymet (Brit enclave where you can get fish and chips), Miramont-de- Guyenne (where you can get the train to Bordeaux), Mauzac (where we walked on the cliffs above the Dordogne and looked down on the railway bridge and the hydroelectric barrage.

The weather has stayed sunny but the frost has been severe, painting swirling ice patterns on the car when we were staying with Nigel and Freda (near Armillac).

Eymet is one of the Bastides, fortified market town, set up by the Brits and the French in their respective enclaves during the 100 years war.  All medi-evil, all full of Brits, a second invasion.  You can even buy marmite here (for a price) and get yesterdays Guardian (for a price).

We really struggle to perform the basic stuff without the internet.  We’ve become dependent on it over the years.  For instance booking hotels, trains, finding the nearest Lidl, checking a crossword answer, seeing how the Boro got on, getting on to Skype when others are on it etc etc.
Today we’ll go to Bergerac to Carrefour for a good long internet session and a walk by the river.
The builders are back at Overcliff to sand the floor and start the snagging.  Carys and Lydia may  need to learn some Lithuanian to get it done the way they want.
