We seem to have got far enough south to be seeing spring already? I have a suspicion that these 15 deg C sunny days are not the norm. The river looks like it’s only recently recovered from a deluge.
The last day in Brittany was wet and windy, but not cold, so we got onto the beaches. On the last day (Friday) the sun broke through so we spent the whole afternoon walking the beaches.

We drove to Castillonnes on the Saturday, all straight forward till we got near Bergerac, and we hit dense fog. The sat nav was the only way to see where the road might be. We got there at about 19.15 and got the log fire on. The next morning there was a massive hoar frost, but clear blue skies. There is a market at Issigeac every Sunday so off we went to get some comestibles, but got ripped off on the cheese front. It was nice and it was big, but €11!
Walked into Castillonnes in the afternoon for a quick pression and then to watch the rugby, Castillonnes got stuffed by Norbon, but a few hundred had turned out to watch. Some very well nourished Norbonaise players forced lots of errors out of the relatively svelt Castillonnes players.
Cancon Market today, not as nice as Issigeac, but nice views from the helpfully signposted “view point”, which was adorned with a massive crucifix dominating the town. It was festooned with Christmas lights, which broke the sombre mood somewhat.
We then walked to St Dizier, which had a nice Church (shut) and an old petrol station (semi collapsed).
This is the view from the Gite
Later in the week it turmed much colder, but with strong sunshine and clear star filled skies at night.
The Car is enjoying the trip as much as we are ..
