Blog
The weather has got to the stage of being intimidating .. large hailstones, door rattling thunder, blinding flashes of lightning.  Water is pouring off the mountains into the sea changing it from azure to khaki.  The tops of the mountains are white with snow, or maybe it’s hail.
We went to Marsala, which was scraped clean by the gale force wind.  It kept us occupied for a few minutes.  It’s main interesting features are a) it’s wine which is very sweet and b) it’s patron saint which is Thomas Becket.

Gave up and went back to our beach for a stroll in the storm

Friday 25th Feb is our last day in Alcamo, and the sun came out.   We just pottered about and got ready for the trip tomorrow, about 5 hours back to Pizzo on the mainland.  We made sure we had enough beer and wine to keep us going through the potential siege. If I understood Gazzetta de la Sport correctly there would soon be an exodus from Libya of “biblical” proportions, the price of Brent Crude had risen so much the day was labelled black Thursday and Sicily will be short of several million barrels of petrol per day, normally supplied from Tripoli.  Moreover the protesters in Tripoli had been mass drugged by Osama Bin Laden, according to Gadhafi (surely I got that bit wrong) and both Manchester City and Rangers progressed to the next round of the UEFA Cup.
Went to get petrol but there were no queues or panic.  Hopefully the ferry tomorrow won’t be overloaded and capsize due to the biblical proportion of Libyan exodees, making their way through Sicily to Europe, where they no doubt intend to take all the jobs, and cause a collapse in the housing market (you’ve probably guessed that Gazette de la Sport  models itself on the Daily Express when it comes to world current affairs).
